| Gentlemen. Hopefully, your branch members may have heard that 4 PARA have been given the honour of the Freedom of Liverpool, which will be exercised on Saturday 24 March 12. I've been given the task of organizing both the Parade and the Regimental Dinner at St George's Hall on the evening. The day is a scale A for serving members, but it would be fantastic to see any bloke who has served in 4 PARA or its antecedents over the years. Due to numbers, the Dinner only is restricted to SNCOs and Officers from down the years, however, any Airborne veteran of WW ll, irrespective of rank, would also be most welcome to attend. The whole day should be awesome. The intent is to celebrate not only the Freedom, but also the Battalion's 70th Anniversary and the 67th Anniversary of the Rhine Crossing. To symbolize this, there will be a fly past by a Dakota. Joining us will be Major Dick Hargreaves MC, the only surviving Coy OC from 1942. Major Hargreaves will present an MiD to the parents of Pte Conrad Lewis, who was KIA on 09 Feb 11, whilst serving with us in 3 PARA in Helmand. If anyone is interested, please get in touch and I'll send you the latest information. I look forward to hearing from you.rnYours aye, Steve rnMajor SP Boardman MBErn4th Battalion The Parachute RegimentrnMobile: 0791 225 6014rn | Email : stephenpboardman@aol.com Country from : United Kingdom Date posted : Friday, January 27, 2012, 9:43 pm |
